Iron Man 2 Countdown #10

Well, I'm putting this one up a little late since last night my computer decided it would try a new error on me and wouldn't let me log onto my blog but of course now this morning it will let me. Grr. Must get new computer. Anyway continuing with the countdown with the tenth sweetest thing from the first Iron Man movie is actually the novelization by Peter David. As anyone whose read any of his books know it was really good and added more to the story than just what was in the movie that all writers who write novelizations should take a lesson from. Plus it added to the large selection of books like that by David since he's written most of the Marvel movie novelizations. And they are all really good. Anytime I feel like watching the first Hulk movie I tell myself to read the book instead, so much better.

Though he didn't write the sequel book dang it...yes I'm bitter. Mainly because Alex Irvine wrote it and having read a few of his books like this now since that seems to be all he writes I can't really say I've been impressed with is writing. It's not really bad but doesn't have any thing extra. That and it might be annoyance that the last Iron Man book that came out by him every chapter started with half a page descriptions of patents to Iron Man armor tech. Got really repetitive after the first few and then pointless.

Iron Man 2 Countdown #11

A new day so time for the next thing that comes from my warped mind that I consider awesome from Iron Man. And that would be, from the soundtrack the second song, or in the movie the scene in the casino and the music that plays. What made this sweet as hell is that its the music to the old sixties Iron Man cartoon, which probably explained why I was the only person that laughed when I heard the music because I'm the only one that geeky to get it. I revel in my nerdiness.

The thing that impressed me the most is that at least in the movie so far this was the first real shout out to us comic geeks. If you're a geek you get it, if you aren't you won't but it doesn't hurt your enjoyment of the movie either. I loved all the little things like this that popped up in the movie, in fact the best one will appear later in my countdown. Plus they continued this tradition with the Incredible Hulk movie and just made both of these movies so much better.

Iron Man 2 Countdown

For my own personal amusement I've decided to countdown for the next 12 days leading up to the premiere of Iron Man 2 twelve things that made the first movie the greatest superhero movie yet. Or second best compared to Spider-Man 2 depending on my mood. Though I have a feeling the sequel will top even the first one.

Anyway starting with the list at number 12, we have the quick subtle appearance of Captain America's shield. Hidden the in background over Tony's shoulder in one quick blink and you miss it scene it's still just sweet as hell to see it appear on the screen. One of my many viewings in the theater to see the first movie (I think I only saw the movie about six times or so in theater) I went back after reading online just to look for myself and see the shield. Now two years later and the talk of the Marvel movie verse continuing far beyond just the Iron Man movie makes my inner nerd even happier with anticipation for the next one. Especially when we get to the end and have an Avengers movie. Best movie ever.

Homework Assignment 5

Zombies Came to Stay One Day

One day my doorbell rang
At the door were 5 zombies
All staring blankly
One was a man nearly 6'9 and missing the bottom of his jaw
One was a man and a midget with no ear
One was a man just covered in blood
One was a woman who had to have been a model but now wasn't
And the last was a woman that just looked normal except the missing pinky
I gawked for a moment
And the shambled inside
They took up residence inside my living room
Lounging on the sofa and watching TV
I tried talking with them, asking them to leave
But they had no response except moans
They didn't want my brains
But they did take my dog's biscuits
Now I have new friends
They smell, they fall apart
But it's so much fun to say
I have 5 zombies that stayed

Homework Assignment 3

Snow

Waking in the gray morning
It's quiet except the wind and swirling white
Staring for a moment as everything is different
Finding out snow
Has covered the ground

Children play fighting sledding building
Mothers watch with hot cocoa
Fathers shovel and plow the driveways
Schools close to lonely emptiness
Businesses are just as empty
Except the grocery store where people horde
Trucks shove large walls along the street
Trapping cars in their homes
Drivers slow in fear
Hoping they do not become
One of the wrecks they passed

All this comes out of something so small
Water frozen into a tiny crystal

Homework Assignment 2

Starting the Car
By Jason Miller

For such a small act
Putting a metal key into a small hole
Comes the start of so many things
An engine could roar
Music blares from speakers
Forgotten windshield wipers whir
A feeling of power to the first time driver
The terror of a parent looking at their teenager
The trip to the grocery store
Or the start of an three hundred mile journey
All things that come from turning something to the right

Homework Assignment 1

And seeing as how the reason behind my creating this blog is for posting homework from poetry class online here's the first assignment.

Questions in the Morning

I wake each morning to you.
A small spot in my yard that's there without fail.
You're a little brown ball with ears,
sitting in my front yard every morning,
covered in the dew and sparkling,
without fail as the sun rises
I see you waiting.

I want to ask you just why you're there,
what about my yard you like.
Just what brings you to my yard,
from wherever you come to my residential area.
I'd like to ask if you think I'm growing carrots.
Or if you find it strange the large person
that stares from the window.
If you wonder about me as I wonder about you.

And I know if I came out to ask, all I'd ask,
"Eh, what's up doc?"
